A U.S. invasion of Nigeria, draped in the rhetoric of rescue, would be tyranny disguised as aid. Sovereignty is not a garment to be borrowed by foreign hands. To breach Nigeria’s soil under any banner of benevolence is to mock the law of nations and the dignity of self-rule. True partnership aids without possession; invasion, however justified, is conquest in moral disguise, a mask of help concealing the face of domination.
